The Founder
Albert Avramovic
Three decades ahead of the curve.
Albert Avramovic has spent more than thirty years working with film rights, distribution, production and physical media.
An obsession
became a career.
He began as a teenager, trading ex-rental VHS tapes and working behind the counter of what became the Nordic region’s largest laserdisc store.
He later founded, owned and operated several video and DVD stores, taking a mail-order business into e-commerce before becoming co-owner of the Nordic region’s largest entertainment wholesaler.
What started as an obsession with film grew into a career spanning every major transformation in how audiences discover, watch and own entertainment.
From VHS to streaming.
And beyond.
Albert’s career began before DVD existed.
He worked with video stores and physical distribution, attended the Cannes Film Market for the first time in 1998 and went on to build relationships across Cannes, Milan, Berlin, Toronto, Los Angeles and the international film business.
He was involved in bringing the first generation of DVD players to consumers, helped make region-free playback accessible during the format’s early years and later brought authoring and production for Blu-ray in-house.
When film moved beyond the television screen, Albert was there too – helping launch movies on mobile phones with Sony Ericsson long before watching films on a phone became ordinary.
From B-movies to Oscar winners.
Across more than three decades, Albert has been involved in the acquisition of approximately 5,000 films – from B-movies, genre titles and mockbusters to major commercial releases and Academy Award winners. Beyond film, his work encompasses tens of thousands of hours of television series and documentaries.
Today, we acquire around 200 new titles each year, adding continuously to an extensive and constantly growing catalogue.
Albert remains active in acquisition and distribution. That uninterrupted experience – from physical media through the rise of digital and into the next era of ownership – is something very few people in the industry can match.
He has worked across rights, sales, localization, authoring, production, aggregation and distribution. Few people have followed the entire modern life of home entertainment from inside the business.
Albert has.
The format changed.
The work never stopped.
- VHS gave way to laserdisc
- Laserdisc gave way to DVD
- DVD gave way to Blu-ray
- Physical retail gave way to digital platforms
Through every transition, Albert remained active – acquiring films, building releases, working with rights holders and finding new ways for stories to reach an audience.
Take One never left physical media behind. For more than fifteen years, digital distribution became our primary focus, but the knowledge, relationships and understanding of physical production remained.
That continuity matters now.
Experience isn’t about looking back.
It is about recognizing what comes next.
Throughout his career, Albert has consistently moved early: into new formats, new forms of distribution and new ways of connecting films with audiences.
Today, we see another transformation taking shape.
Audiences are rediscovering the value of ownership. Film, music, publishing, design and physical production are beginning to converge. The next generation of releases will not belong to a single format, platform or territory.
After three decades of change, we are not returning to the past.
We are using everything we learned to build what comes after streaming alone.
Built on experience.
Driven by what’s next.
Albert’s experience forms part of Take One’s foundation, but its next chapter is being built by all of us.
Today, Take One also owns the Nordic region’s largest vinyl pressing plant – Pitch Beats by Sweden – giving us the production capacity, flexibility and control to turn ambitious cross-format ideas into physical releases.
Together, we combine rights, distribution, production, music, editorial work and physical manufacturing to create releases designed for an international collector audience.
The tools are new.
The ambition is larger.
The instinct remains the same:
See the next shift before it becomes obvious.
